Artist Statement

Gestures, scribbles, color, the freedom to be like a child again with no idea of what the finished painting will look like... these are the qualities with which I begin my work. Add the joy of playing with my art materials and I take off into my own world, rising above problems while releasing emotional and physical energy.

Of course reality sets in during the process and I must step back to see what I have done and see what the painting is telling me. What is it about? What does it need to become harmonious and balanced? It is usually about something I have seen, felt or heard and sometimes hold dear to me.... a reflection of my experiences and places in my heart.

My newest work is an evolution in my freedom of expression.

Art exposes my inner self, frees me in the moment, and reveals another layer to the mysterious beauty of life.

This is how and why I paint.
